This is the lavender honey we select at Miel Mayem.
Ximo Martínez PrimoAt Miel Mayem we have been dedicated for generations to offering High-quality natural honeys, always respecting their origin and characteristics. Today I want to tell you about one of our most special varieties: Lavender honey .
This honey is harvested in late spring and early summer, in areas of Guadalajara where the lavender blooms offer one of the most beautiful landscapes of the year. Its light amber color, distinctive floral aroma, and sweet flavor with light acidic notes make it a highly prized variety for those seeking a smooth and aromatic honey.
What makes lavender honey special?
Many people choose it for its relaxing properties, ideal for enjoying at any time of day, either on its own or with light foods. It's often incorporated into warm infusions or simply enjoyed on its own, when you feel like disconnecting from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Try the lavender honey at Miel Mayem
As always at Miel Mayem, we select the honey and package it by hand. We take care of every detail to preserve its texture, aroma, and all the characteristics that make it unique. We offer two types of lavender honey:
Natural Lavender Honey
It undergoes minimal heating in a bain-marie to achieve a more fluid texture, without losing its properties.
Raw Lavender Honey
We pack it directly from the drum to the jar, using a traditional spoon. By not applying heat, it maintains its denser texture and natural state.
How to preserve lavender honey?
To ensure lavender honey retains all its qualities, it's important to store it properly. Ideally, it should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct light or heat sources, always with the jar tightly closed.
It doesn't need to be refrigerated: honey keeps perfectly at room temperature. Over time, it's normal for it to crystallize, especially in cold conditions. Crystallization does not affect its quality or properties.
Preserved this way, lavender honey can maintain its flavor, aroma, and texture for up to two years. But did you know that natural honey doesn't expire? In our previous article, I detailed the natural reasons why.
